I went to the big hospital for my therapy cat visit this week. Before I even saw any patients, my human and I ran into several residents, which is always fun! One young woman was wearing a USC jacket over her uniform — by coincidence, that where I am visiting next week!
I only had a couple of children to see in Pediatrics. The first one, a girl, really wasn’t that interested in me, but she had an older relative with her — my human couldn’t tell if she was the mom, an aunt, or a grandmother — who was excited I was there. She really enjoyed my visit. I even did a high five!
The other patient was a girl who immediately sat up in bed so I could join her. Her mom and dad were both there, but apparently they aren’t together — my human guessed that because the mother is allergic to cats, and the dad has a cat who he totally adores and couldn’t stop talking about! While my human was chatting with them, I curled up with the patient and relaxed and purred. It was a very happy visit.
We also stopped by Labor and Delivery, and my presence caused a huge commotion because apparently I am famous there! A couple of them follow my Instagram account. One of the nurses was practically crying, she was so thrilled to see me. So I sat on the counter of the nurse’s station and posed for lots and lots of photos and did some tricks, just the way I do at a cat show or personal appearance. It was fun being a celebrity for a few moments.
But of course, I had patients to visit. One bedridden mom-to-be didn’t have room on the bed for me, but I was okay being in my sling while she petted me. The other lady sat up so I could join her and she and my human chatted while I visited.
This was an awesome visit.

You really do such great work when you visit patients in a hospital…..it means the world to them to have a distraction even for a short while. My Mom knows this as when she was having infusions in the hospital some years ago there were dogs who visited and it took my Mom’s mind off of WHY she was there for a while!
Hugs, Teddy
Summer, I would be just as happy as your other fans if I ever met you.

Summer I’d flip if I saw you. You are so important, talented and beautuful. You truly are a celebrity in my eyes
Sounds like a great day, Summer. It is fun to be a celebrity. We think what you do is so important! XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, angel Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer & Kizmet p.s. Mom thinks Kizmet would be an excellent therapy cat. She’s friendly and outgoing and not frightened of new people. Unfortunately Mom thinks she’s too old to take on such a project, especially as her mobility is so limited.
You are a celebrity sweet Summer and you do such good things for humans!
It must be really nice to see people happy and excited to see you.
You certainly are a celebrity – nice. You seem to handle it well too.
You make the day brighter for people.
Wonderful you can make so many people happy and that you enjoy it so much. We just try to keep momz happy.
Hugs and kitty kisses,
Bodacious and Razzle-Dazzle
Dearest Summer,
That sounds like a very worthwhile, productive visit.
You no doubt do bring lots of happiness. It is too bad that some ‘claim’ to be allergic to kitties…
They have hair themselves and I think it is often just an excuse.
Big hugs,
Mariette
Your therapy visits bring so much joy.
