Remember how disappointed I was in the work the gardener did the other week? Well, now we had brush clearance done. It’s required in our area, because we live in a dangerous fire zone. The gardener doesn’t do this — my human hires a different company for that. But considering the job the gardener does, I figured I’d better see how this went.
One thing my human did was tell these guys to clear out the areas that the gardener neglected, like remove the weeds around the roses and in the built in planters. So they did!
See? It’s much cleaner than it was before.
Even though those areas looked good, I still had to check the back part of the backyard.
That looked good too, if brown. When the brush clearance happens, that means it’s the start of the brown season here. That’s what we’ve got in southern California — the green season (November through April), and the brown season (May through October).
Here is a gratuitous closeup of me.
I thought I was done with my inspection, but there was one important thing left for me to check out!
What a relief! They didn’t mess with my catnip garden, and it even has new growth.

I think that Catnip needs a lot of brush clearance to any other cats right Summer
That is some nice looking nip there,xx Speedy
That’s some really nice nip Summer Samba! Your whole yard is interesting. XXXX
Great work Summer. You are so thorough!!
Looks like they did a great job! And hopefully, there won’t be a blackened season for you. We’re closing in on being in the same boat. We’re nowhere being as wet as we used to be just 10 years ago and it can’t be too many years longer before we have to clear vegetation each spring too. Great gratuitous shot, Summer!
Good thing the brush clearers knew the difference between brush and catnip!
Hugs, Teddy

You are the best inspector! Looks like they did a good job if it’s up to your standards.
Those guys sure did a great job, Summer. We are glad they left your nip alone!
Your catnip garden looks great! Very interesting seasons you have there. Good to see the yard being maintained as wanted. Mom is very particular about our yard too. A good looking yard makes for a happy family. Great pics! Purrs
Summer, a gratuitous photograph of you is always welcome!! Glad they got it all right for you (and left your ‘nip).
What a relief to have the nip doing so well!
Thank goodness nobody touched the nip!
It least they didn’t steal you nip!
You gotta keep an eye on the hired help! 😉
Great job of supervising, Summer. So glad they didn’t damage your nip garden. We know how important that is to you kits! Hop you and your human have a great weekend. Love you sweet Summer!!
Do you have problems with other kitties finding your lovely nip garden?
Purrz!
Selina
The nip looks great. You look lovely. The close-up is beautiful
And no snakes or scorpions either ! Purrs !
Looks like they did a pawsome job!
The whole time you were inspecting the yard, I was wondering about the nip. LOL
thank cod and toona it’s ok!
I love your gratuitous photo with your pretty green eyes. Good job on the inspection, glad the catnip is OK.
Your nip is looking good. Those other gardeners did a much better job than the other one.
They’d better not have touched it ! Catnip is the most precious of all greens.
You look very serious going about your inspection, Summer! It looks like they did a very good job. It remains for us to hope that your season will be less brown this year.
Purrs,
Tama and Genji
Your nip is looking great. I have not heard of brown season 🙂
I’m glad the work meets with your approval sweet Summer!
Looks like they did a good job! And I’m glad they didn’t mess with your catnip garden 🙂
I love your gorgeous close-up photo, Summer!
It’s good you are there to do the inspection.
You are such a big help! Plus, you look good
doing it.
Your yard looks good Summer.
We think brown season beats snow season 😉
Purrs,Georgia and Julie
Whew! As long as the catnip is in good shape…that’s all that matters, Summer!
very thorough inspection.
Whew! We’re so glad the catnip is safe!
Our dry season is almost exactly opposite your brown season. The world is weird.
What a coincidence! I just cleared brush and trimmed trees….well, I hired a crew! I love the gratuitous pic 6! Hehe 😉
Every fall, the grounds crew clears out our garden (we live in a condo so it’s included in our fees). One year – maybe 5 or so years ago, I heard a bunch of cursing outside my bedroom window (where the garden is). I got closer to hear what they were saying and they were complaining because Bear was in the window watching them intently and apparently making them nervous. “That f***ing cat! What’s his f***ing problem? Why’s he staring at me? LOOK! He’s watching my every move! What the f***?” Really?! Over a CAT? Not that you don’t make an imposing presence, Summer … but grown men!!!
Brown season beats black season.
