Boxing for the Gold

February 12, 2010 By: Sparkle Cat10 Comments

That’s right — I’m in the Cat-O-Lympics boxing competition! This is not my first time. As you can see from this photo from several years ago, I competed against Light Heavyweight Binga.

Faking so she doesn't see my left hook!

This wasn’t quite fair, since I was (and still am) a Featherweight. Even so, there was no clear cut winner, and no medals handed out. This caused quite a scandal. Personally I think Binga should have been disqualified; as you can see from our match, she hit below the belt.

Binga and I are both back in action this year and will be battling it out for the gold medal. Here are our stats:

Binga, aka La Gata Loca from Lacy St. (as in L.A. Animal Control on Lacy St.)

Binga, aka La Gata Loca from Lacy St. (as in L.A. Animal Control on Lacy St.)

Weight: 12 lbs., 0 oz.
Class: Light Heavyweight
Length, Nose-to-Tail: 19″
Tail Length: 13″
Waist: 16″

Binga specializes in throwing her weight into her blows. She also plays dirty, as this training photo with a dummy reveals.

She has been penalized in 8 out of 10 bouts.

Sparkle, aka The Terrible Tornado from Temecula

Sparkle, aka The Terrible Tornado from Temecula

Weight: 5 lbs., 15 oz.
Class: Featherweight
Length, Nose-to-Tail: 19″
Tail Length: 13″
Waist 13 1/2″

Sparkle’s specialty is her dangerous left hook. She is known to leave her claws untrimmed before a bout, landing a nasty surprise on her opponent’s nose.

In fact, I sharpen 'em special for my opponents!

While the two cats have similar lengths, Binga has a clear weight advantage. Sparkle, however, is known for her speed and agility, and what she lacks in poundage, she makes up for in ferocity.

May the best cat win!

We’ve posted our second (more traditional style) boxing entry on our blog! Sorry, our human’s a little slow at typing today!

I don’t know if we have what it takes to defeat you two though!

We can’t believe Binga started a boxing match over a loving head butt. She may not be someone you want to mess with Sparkle!

Sparkle… I mean this in the nicest possible way… don’t mess with the Binga. I wouldn’t even wanna mess with her. She is bootiful and all, but you can see in her eyes that she just wants it more – that never ends well for her opponent.
