It seems like there are always new critters stopping by my house lately!
The latest ones were some big birdies!
Of course I wanted to get a better look.
There were several of them hanging out in the tall palm tree across the street.
My human tried to get photos but she was only able to capture one at a time flying around. I think a palm tree is a weird place to take roost, if you ask me!
Even though I looked a little worried, there was nothing to fear. Unlike other big birds such as hawks and eagles, crows aren’t really dangerous predators to kitties. They are mostly scavengers, or they will eat nuts, berries and large bugs. (Actually, they like cat food, I’ve heard!) And if necessary, they go after much smaller prey, like eggs, baby birds, and baby squirrels. The only time they are dangerous to cats is if they are protecting their nests and they think a cat is a threat. Then they can get really mean! And of course that would never happen with me because my human is always with me. If anything, they would see her as a threat first!
Still, I prefer watching smaller birdies.

Summer I suspect your human loves you so much, she would put herself between you and Mr. Bear. Crows not my favorite birds either. I had a beautiful yellow finch at my feeder today. My kitties watch from a window
Whoa! I don’t think we’ve ever seen birds that big in person.
We have loads of crows in Midway. One family nests in the tree at the end of our yard. We think the current couple, are great grand kids of the original crows who have nested in the tree since we moved here in 1992. We have quite a large roosting group that live in the village and they talk to each other, a lot! They also know all of the neighborhood animals and will attack dogs that have chased their fledglings. Right now they have babies, so Cinnamon is kept on a leash for her walks. They also know that Cinnamon will not go out of the yard so they make sure the young birds stay out of the yard.
We agree, smaller birdies are much better!
We get a lot of crows here too, this year even more than usual. They make such a racket too!
We have some crows, and in the same family, we also have magpies and jays. They are all very noisy! Are yours noisy, Summer?

Tama and Benny
Extremely noisy!
I agree smaller birds are more fun to watch.
I think you are nice and safe with Mom Summer but they must be really fun to watch
Us pups run the fence line when we see a crow or a turkey vulture…as if we going to be able to snag one…LOL!
We do have hawks around here, so when one of those is around we pay more attention to our backsides. Thankfully we are a bit too big, even me, Dalton, for to be hawk prey. Though when there is a hawk or a smaller falcon, all the little birds we feed year round are gone for quite a while before they dare to return.
My human loved the palm tree pic.
There are no palm trees in Ok-cat-homa and she loves them!
Wow, how fun! <3
It’s good to be alert to possible dangers. That looked bigger
than a crow! Our area has turkey vultures – quite large and
ugly too.
You have great BirdTV.

Way to go sweet Summer, you were Counting Crows!
I see lots of birds – including crows – too since I get to go outside several times a day. We have hawks and turkey buzzards and other BIG BIRDS around here as well. Hawks will dive bomb cats and sit in trees for a long time to “surprise” some prey they are interested in. Mom and Dad keep a close eye on me and I keep a close eye on the sky! Have fun watching your crows Summer.
Hugs, Teddy
I love watching the birds too, Summer. But it seems like the only ones we get a lot of are the stupid geese.
For three years in a row, Bear got perfect [and free] bird tv from the comfort of his cat tree inside. We had two pigeons hanging out on our storage shed and you couldn’t rip Bear away from watching them coo away. They only stayed for a few weeks – and with Bear – anything that kept him entertained was well worth it!
Boy Summer, I would not like to have been up close to them! I know you weren’t;t but still, they can be scary to us cats.
Thanks for your good wishes and meows yesterday for Brovver, XX
We get crows in our yard too. Mum thinks they are cool.
They are smart and keep their distance.Sometimes they eat some seeds mum puts out for the birds.
Anytime I am out, mum is there. I pretty much stay on the ramp. Mum worries about ticks.
