I know it’s kind of late in the semester to go back to school, but yesterday was the earliest slot available for a therapy cat visit. Coming down to USC as a therapy pet to mingle with the students is very popular! But I’m glad I went when I did &mdash the weather was pleasant, not too hot, although my human could still wear short sleeves.
One or two students remembered me from last time, but there were lots of new ones. And older people too, since it was Parents Week on the campus. So many people wanted to pet me, and I even gave out a High Five or two! Which was pretty amazing, since I’m not used to doing outdoor visits. My human brought some extra-special treats as a reward for being outside. She also made sure I was comfortable at all times. She almost always had a hand on me, just to let me know she was there for me. It must have worked, because several humans remarked about how calm I was.
Because I’m not used to the outdoor visits, my human plans to set up more so I get accustomed to them. Being a therapy cat involves walking the line between knowing when situations are too stressful for me, or if I just need to adjust. Usually in my case, it’s the latter. I really did enjoy visiting with the students.
And guess what? The student helping out with the therapy pets told us that when I visited last year, over 100 more students stopped by, and they stayed longer! So I was a big hit. Yes, definitely, I’ll be back.
School! What a fun way to meet peeps…and still be doing a good work:)
We are glad you were such a hit and that you enjoy it so much. We think that is why you are such a big hit, it’s clear from your pictures that you enjoy what you do.
Summer you darling! I am not surprised in the least that you did well and that they loved you. Who would not!?
That is super cool, Summer. Those USC students sure are lucky to have you and your human visit!
Your so purrfect.x
All kitties are special but you are amazing. So smart and you adapt well, and all so quickly too. You are a kitty sponge when it comes to learning and I hope you realize how much you mean to people and the love that you spread.
Are you sure you’re not coming back as a guest lecturer? LOL.
It sounds like it’s great to be a star. You do it well.
Who wouldn’t want to stop in and visit with you!
Summer,you’re a hit that can’t miss.
Summer, you are definitely a cool and confident kitty. Mom wishes someone had brought kitties to campus when she was in college. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
Awesome, Summer! Wonder how many meet you and see how wonderful cats are then visit their local shelter and adopt a kitty of their very own.
Of course you’re a big hit, Summer! You’re a rock star!
What a great visit Summer! Those were some lucky students!
Purrs,

Sounds like that was an adventure for everyone!
We love your tie from Miss Ellen! You look fab in it. It must be so cool to be a student at a school that has therapy pets visit. They didn’t have that back in the dark ages when our mom went to college.
It makes me so happy to see you wearing the tie I made for you. Thank you for wearing it 🙂 Those college students are so lucky they got to meet you.
They sure are lucky students to have you helping them pretty Summer!

Being outside must be a nice change for you, Summer. I’m outside with Chris as I write this. He is enjoying all the smells and the grass too.
Summer you are spreading feline love all over the place!
Hugs madi your bfff
great job. we bet outside is just harder….so many things and smells 🙂
I love dogs and cats but honestly, I think cats are a lot less threatening than dogs can be – probably why more folks stopped by for you – of course, once they stopped by they stayed because you are awesome!
Well done Summer.
We just can’t meow often enough about how impawtant this work is – or how impressive you are at doing it.
You are amazing, Summer!
Good job!!
Thank you and your human for doing what you do for people! It warms my heart to read about all the kindness and joy you are providing! =^..^=
Great job, Summer!
