On my original Ask Me Anything post, a couple of you had music-related questions. My pal Sammy asked, “I’d like to know if you enjoy listening to music… I like classical music myself although my parents rarely listen to it themselves.” And my friends Angel and Isabella from Beaded Tail said, “we’d like to know if your human’s boyfriend plays his guitar in the house and if that bothers you.”
I have to say that even though I live with a writer who spent many years as a rock journalist and a musician, this is a pretty un-musical house! Which perhaps is just as well. The kind of music my human mostly wrote about was heavy metal. The cat before me was subjected to the classic, but not classical, strains of bands like Metallica, Slayer and Motörhead, and she did not like it one bit! Maybe that is why she insisted on being an indoor-outdoor cat. Fortunately, my human does not play a lot of music nowadays and when she does, it tends to be more indie and alternative rock — sometimes as abrasive, but not generally as loud as heavy metal. So um, yeah, Sammy — the only classical music that gets played around here is when it is the soundtrack to a vintage-1920s era silent movie (my human’s other passion).
My human’s boyfriend doesn’t listen to much more music than my human does, and usually it is something like watching videos of the Rolling Stones on his computer. He does practice here, but it is never very loud. For a while, one of his bands was rehearsing in the upstairs part of the bedroom “wing” of the house (our home is L-shaped, hence the “wings”), but the sound was muffled so it never bothered us cats any.
All that said, I do confess I have a love-hate relationship with his musical equipment. It has been this way since the beginning, back at the old house.
These guitar cases always seem to be in the way. He has bunches of them… and yeah, they usually have guitars in them.
Although sometimes they also have cats.
Plus he usually isn’t all that thrilled when we cats inspect his guitars. Frankly, I think they could use a good nose print or two, and some cat fur.
Even worse, he has a habit of leaving these things in my sun puddles. It has something to do with “aging” them. Fortunately, he has gotten into the habit of leaving them outside instead.
So I don’t really care much about the guitars themselves, or the sounds they make… but the cases are occasionally good for a nap!
If you have a question about me you would like to ask, you can still ask it at the original Ask Me Anything post!
If my dad want´s to wake me up he play´s Bandit play radio on the computer

My mom and dad are really trash heads and LOVE heavymetal 🙂
This was rockin’ fun, Sparkle!!!
Can I borrow one of those cases??? I’ve got *someone* I’d like to show one to.
; ) Katie
You “Rock” Sparkle!
Our mom remembers the good ol’ days of early punk! And we are subjected to bands like Escape the Fate, 3 Days Grace and Get Scared. Sometimes we listen to classical too.
And Happy Birthday to Boodie! We hope she had a good one.
Those cases look really comfortable, with all that velvet. Ooooh …. cozy!
Happy birthday to Boodie!
Those guitar cases look like kitty coffins. MOL! I love love love when TW plays music cos it means it’s playtime. While she’s transferring their albums onto CD, she plays with me since she can’t do much else. That’s 30 plus minutes a day in real time. She’s up to someone named David Johansen.
We would agree with you about the cases making cool kitty beds 😉 heehee
Purrs Tillie and Georgia,
Treasure,Tiger,JJ and Julie
We like music that makes us happy, Mommy still loves the Beatles, especially their early music. Journey, Starship and James Taylor are also cool. Mommy used to play folk guitar music with her cousin when he came to visit her as teens and now her son, Boomer plays banjo, he likes Steve Martin which he met in Easton just a couple weeks ago. =^Y^=
Guitar cases make purrfect kitty dorms, Sparkle. My human tells me she has a folk guitar somewhere which she used to play! I am thankful she’s misplaced it!!!!!
Them gittar cases looks quite comfy Sparkle..Happy Birthday Boodie..Has a boodieful day and some extra yummy treats..Hugs form Baby Tali and her Humom.. 🙂
That satin looks like a great place for a kitty nap. We say any guitar sitting in a sun puddle is fair game for using as a scratching post. You know some of those things are strung with cat gut. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
We when it comes to having a good time I know you are on the case Sparkle! Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday Boodie!
We are stopping by to wish Boodie a Happy Birthday.
Those cases look pawesome for napping. Our Daddy loves to listen to music and he even whistles a song for Socks. It is known as the Sockie Pooh Song.

Purrs,
The Chans
The guitar cases sure looks comfy with nice fabric to lay on 🙂
I didn’t know about aging guitars! So they are like cheese!
Isn’t it tempting to take a claw to a string or two ?
We’re glad to hear that there isn’t loud music being played to disturb you kitties! We didn’t realize that guitars need sunpuddles like we do too. Hmmm. We do wonder why they make guitar cases so cozy looking if kitties aren’t supposed to get in them. That makes no sense whatsoever.
Happy Birthday to Boodie!
Happy Birthday, Boodie!
Those cases do look comfortable although a little lumpy…
I don’t play much music around my condo, except for my flute on occasion. I sang one time and scared 9 so much that his eyes got huge and his tail got bushier and bushier. I felt so bad and embarrassed. Honestly, my voice is not that bad! Chani didn’t seem to mind at all 🙁
Not much music in our house either. Happy Birthday to Boodie.
this was a fun post, I would be expecting you to be rockin’ out ALL the time! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOODIE!!
AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOODIE!!!
Boodie looks QUITE comfy in the case she’s taken over! Yes, I agree, Sparkle, using the cases for napping spots *is* the best use for them.
PURRZ!
Selina
I would like to nap in one of those guitar cases, too! My Big Janitor Dad has lots of guitars but his are on stands in the basement. Sometimes he plays very loudly! I hope that Boodie is having a Happy Birthday today!
Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrs, China Cat
Those cases would be great for napping and furring up. Great reminder of you for the BF when he travels.
Sparkle, our dad-guy is an amateur guitar player and we totally agree with you, the only thing we like about it is napping in the guitar cases! He likes to leave his out in our sunpuddles, too! He’s always afraid that we’re gonna scratch his guitars…even though we wouldn’t want to touch them!
BTW, we hear it’s Boodie’s birthday today…Happy Birthday!!
OHHHHHHHHHHHH I LOVE THAT PINK SILKY LINING IN THE GUITAR CASE I BET THAT FEELS YUMMY FOR NAPPING
HUGS MADI YOUR BFFF
Happy Birthday Boodie. Hope they give you some extra treats today.
Interesting about all the different music in your house. And those guitar cases do look like fun. Have a great day.
If he doesn’t like you in the guitar cases, he needs to keep them put away and out of your sun puddles. Sun puddles are strictly cat territory, and the sooner the humans learn that, the better!
We think the cases need to stay open!
Huh. We think everything goes better with a bit of kitteh fur.
Heavy metal, my favorite kind.
Oh my dear, you do look lovely in the case!
