I had a nice time at the big hospital on this therapy cat visit. On our way to Pediatrics, we ran into some staff members who were so happy to see me! And as soon as we got there, the first room with a window had a young teen girl whose face lit up the moment she saw me! So as soon as we had checked in we went back there.
I curled up with the girl for a long while while she and her father chatted about me in Spanish. They talked to my human in English, though. A big group of nurses with a machine showed up for her at the end of our visit. We don’t know what was going on with the girl to warrant that many nurses. Unless there is an obvious injury or the patient themselves say something, we never know why the patient is in the hospital. It’s not important anyway, although I do hope the girl will be okay.
Other than that, Pediatrics was quiet, so we went down to first floor Rehab and visited with an older lady whose daughter was there. They both really were enchanted with me. The daughter had a dilute calico and she told my human all about her and showed her photos. My human really enjoyed that.
After a brief stop at the Cancer Center, we went over to Behavioral Medicine. That is one of our special stops on Monday. There were three patients to see me, a young man with tattoos on his face, an older Spanish speaking lady in a wheelchair, and a man who seemed to be in his 30s. Each of them got to spend time with me and pet me. The staff really likes me a lot there too.
While not the busiest day, it was a good visit.

You do a lot for those patients. More than you’ll ever know.
Thanks for all you do when you visit those peeps that need your purrs!
Summer we are really glad you are back to bringing cheer to those in the hospital. Way to go girl, and Mom
You do such important work, Summer, and I know how much you love to visit with the patients!
You should be proud of yourself bringing so much happiness to people in the hospital for WHATEVER reason they are there……for kids and old folks it can be an especially scary thing but having something sweet and cuddly (you!) to focus on is magic.
Hugs, Teddy
I think seeing only one patient would still be worth it. I know I would really appreciate a visit if I am ever in the hospital.
You do amazing work Summer. I’d be so.happy to see you
Great visit, Summer. We love that you help so many people.
You’re the highlight of so many people’s days during these visits!
Dearest Summer,
Sounds like you managed to give away a lot of Kitty Love!
So sweet for being so outgoing and close to them.
Big hugs,
Mariette
It sounds like a very good visit, and you make the patients and their families happy.
That sounds like a very nice visit. XO
We’re sure they all loved seeing you.
Summer, you’ll never know just how deeply you’ve touched people.
I hope that if anyone that I love is in a care facility, that they are able to have visits by furries like you.
It sounds like such a fun and productive visit sweet Summer!
It must be very satisfying to have people so excited to
see you. I know what it is like to be a patient and I
can only imagine getting to see a visiting cat – especially
you! Those patients (and staff) will all remember your
visit fondly.
I bet it feels great to get back to what you do best, Summer – help people!
It’s so nice that you can do therapy visits again.
Glad you had a good visit, Summer. You really bring joy to a lot of people.
Dang. I wish there could be pictures. Of course I know why there cannot be any pictures.
It is easy to see that your visits are important.
I believe that any person who pats a cat feels better and more relaxed.
Purrs, Julie
