Have you heard about One Day on Earth? A bunch of filmmakers are going to document the story of the world on a single day — October 10, 2010. The homepage says, “On October 10, 2010 (10.10.10), across the planet, documentary filmmakers, students, and inspired citizens will record the human experience over a 24-hour period and contribute their voice to the largest participatory media event in history.”
Well, you know I could not leave that alone. Humans aren’t the only beings on earth — there are also cats! And actually, cats are part of the human experience, at least for a lot of humans. So I figured that One Day on Earth would not be complete without documenting a day in one cat’s life. Namely mine. So I signed up. My human’s camera shoots HD, so she will be my cinematographer for the day.
To be honest, I am not sure what we are going to shoot, or how my human is going to pull this off — she actually has a wedding to attend in the middle of the day, which fortunately, is happening just a few blocks away from us. So she may sneak back home a couple of times during the reception to grab more footage. In fact, she feels a little guilty because she thinks she really should be shooting the wedding instead. I say FEH to that — do you realize how many weddings humans are probably going to shoot compared to how many cats? She needs to film me on 10-10-10!
After we shoot, all us filmmakers will have one month to put something together. I will keep you informed on how it goes. And hey, if you are feeling a bit ambitious, you can sign up to do it yourself!
I have no doubt you will pull this off with style and pizazz. We are looking forward to seeing the results!
Oh Sparkle! What a great idea. I cannot think of a better kitty representative for the whole feline race! My Human doesn’t even **have** a camera that records video–can you believe that? And, even more embarrassing, the only thing her phone can do is **make phone calls**!! It’s disgraceful.
That sounds like a cool project. We sure don’t envy you being followed around by a camera. Usually when our mom brings out the movie making box, we stop doing whatever it was she wanted to film, mol!

Maybe you should go to the wedding!
Funny story about the groom… a few years back, he adopted a cat for his daughter (from his previous marriage) and my human was indirectly responsible for that kitty winding up in his home! Maybe someday I’ll tell Donkey’s story. It’s kind of cool.
That sounds very interesting Sparkle and we are looking forward to seeing your finished project!
Sounds like an interesting idea and project; we’re sure your video will be a lot of fun to watch…Have a great day, sweet friends…xoxo…Calle, Halle, Sukki
I can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with! Me, I’m having 10 treats at 10 in the AM and 10 in the PM!
I would rather have that than spend the day being filmed!
Wow, that sounds like a cool project! We will have to tell our dad about it – he loves to take videos and he had an hd camera for it too. We bet he would be really into it!
Great idea, Sparkle!! Why shouldn’t the events of your day be documented? Tell your human to get her priorities straight… 😉
That is very cool that you are participating!
My first grandchild is slated to be born on 10-10-10 AND my son is running in the Chicago marathon! Wow! What an eventful day! I hope you get some great footage. I’ll be looking forward to it!
WOW~!!! Sounds super PAWesome! Well, our mom bartends part time on Sunday’s and we know that dad WON’T do it…his purrecious Dallas Cowboys are on!
We look forward to seeing what your Mom does! You are a purrfect subject!
no aware with the project, anyway 10 10 10, will be a remarkable mark for us because of run for a cause this is mainly put back the river on its cleanliness.
That is a cool project – thanks for letting us know about it. We may not film, but we will be really interested in what your Mom shoots! Maybe Mom can do something for it too.
That sounds like a great thing to do.; We cannot wait for the end results. We don’t think our silly Mom should try that . Who knows what we would have in the way of photos. Take care
It will be interesting to see the final results…from everyone!
That sounds like fun for you, Sparkle. Being a world famous celeb-kitteh and all.
This sounds very interesting! I’m sure inspiration will strike you and your mum and you will get some super footage 🙂
Our Daddy’s nephew is getting married on 10-10-10!

I haven’t heard about this project, but maybe I can get my mom to put something together.
We might do a sort of YOU TUBE contribution (the same date). The idea is fascinating. Mom once did “A Day in the history of our town” ~ she spent the whole day photographing the town, the people, the events, the buildings, the views, the landscape ~ and then posted it on her blog!
I think your human’s project sounds cool – my human loves where you live from the photos she has seen.
You are the perfect subject for such a study, Sparkle.
We mean…we CAN’T wait…sheesh….
That’s a pretty cool idea, Sparkle. We can wait to see what you and the rest of the world comes up with!
No way am I letting my mum or dad follow me around with a camera for a whole day! I hope your filming goes well Sparkle.
You’ll have to keep us posted Dash. I’m looking forward to seeing some great footage.
We hadn’t heard about this project – how exciting for you and your human to take part. We are looking forward to hearing about your day.
