Warriors: Power of Three #3 — Outcast
By Erin Hunter
So far, the Warriors “Power of Three” series has been only mildly eventful — there’s been a little fighting, lives have been in peril, but as of now there are no major deaths and no cliffhangers. I get the strong impression that the authors (Erin Hunter, for those who don’t know, is the pseudonym for several writers) have something up their collective sleeves for the last couple of books. Outcast, which takes us back to the Tribe of Rushing Water, only adds to the intrigue without giving any concrete answers. The original cats who made the Great Journey return to the mountains, along with Jaypaw, Lionpaw and Hollypaw — plus a surprise, and not entirely welcome, guest. Their goal is to help the Tribe, who are being threatened by a group of invading cats. Jaypaw discovers some ancient secrets that tie the Tribe with the Clans’ lake home, while Lionpaw begins to learn about his own special power. Hollypaw takes a bit of a back seat here — more will undoubtedly be revealed about her in upcoming books. While being the most action-packed of the series so far, Outcast brings up more questions than it answers — although it does answer a few. Okay, I’m done with the review now — can someone please throw me a twist-tie?
