Warriors Super Edition: Bluestar’s Prophecy

Warriors Super Edition: Bluestar's ProphecyWarriors Super Edition: Bluestar’s Prophecy
By Erin Hunter

If you miss the characters from the first Warriors series, or if the books left you wondering about some of the events that happened before the start of Into the Wild, you’ll find the answers here in this “Super Edition,” which follows Bluestar’s life from her kittenhood up until she discovers Rusty (later Firestar). You get to know cats who you met only as elders or leaders as kits and apprentices — who knew Crookedstar was such an overgrown goofball when he was Crookedpaw? You find out that Whitestorm was actually Bluestar’s nephew, and watch from Bluestar’s point of view as Tigerclaw brutally attacks a young Scourge (a scene seen in the manga book, Warriors: The Rise of Scourge). And finally, you get to truly understand how Bluestar was forced into making the heart-wrenching decision to give up her kits to RiverClan in order to save ThunderClan. This book has everything — romance, pain, battles, conflict and cats — and it reads a lot faster than you would guess from its length (516 pages!). In fact, once you’re done, you may be inspired to go back and re-read the first 6 Warriors books, which are my personal favorites because it shows the characters as their most cat-like. This “Super Edition” is not just an “extra” for Warriors fans — it’s a must read!

The first series of Warriors (which you just read) is the best so far (although series #4, which just began, shows a LOT of promise). Bluestar’s Prophecy is the book that comes closest in feel to the first series.

Great review! I’ve read the first six books of the Warriors. Now I am itching to read this one about Bluestar’s past, thanks to your review.
