Sunday Catinee: Le Chat Triste
I have a foreign film for you today. Don’t worry, there are subtitles! Narrated by the handsome Henri, it proves two things:
1) Tous nous des chats parlent français. (All of us cats speak French.)
2) Everything is more meaningful in black and white, and in French.
If you can’t see the above video, click here to watch on YouTube!
Henri’s first film is here, but for my kibble, the second one is the best. Henri also has a Facebook page, in case you would like to “like” him. Although he’s called “Henri le Chat Noir,” he is really Henri, le Chat Noir et Blanc.

Hooray !!!!!! I can make a comment !!!! Thanks Sparkle to fix it up for me !
It’s almost like the making of a horror movie. Especially the cat flap part…there’s just no escape.
Ha…Ha…Ha…Poor Smudge !
I know it’s not Smudge but he look like him so much !
He just need to lose weight….I guess ; )
xoxo
Henri, je t’aime! Sparkle can you introduce me to Henri? I would love to join him at deux margots to discuss Sartre and Camus over catnip tea.
Henri is quite the handsome dude!!! We really loved his video!!
The Florida Furkids
That video made Mom laugh out loud. That was terrific. He sounds like a cousin of yours Sparkle. Trying to get that human trained. Take care.
Oh what a tortured life Henri lives!! Haha!!
We always know if there’s something evil going to be put on our necks because our cat door always sticks too!!!
luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
ps Henri is very handsome
Oh my cod – that is so funny – Truly I laughed out loud (and scared Miss Frankie!)
Henri is sooooo sophistiCATed! Thank you fur sharing.
I feel so sad for Henri.
I love Henri. He is so filled with ennui.
That really was a fun one!
Our mommy felt sorry for Henri – can you believe that? She’s odd. We enjoyed the video though and understood the universal word of cheeseburgers!
That was great! Both peeps got a laugh out of it but I felt his pain.
Oui.
What a wonderful video… Loveit.
pawhugs, Max
That’s wonderful. I especially like the delivery of the narrator. It sounds so typical of French tragedy. You’d know what was going on even without the subtitles.
Dear Sparkle,
I would be delighted to come over and give you a special Houbibi Massage. If I’m going out on business, #1 will simply have to open the door!
Purrs,
Bibi-Chan
I LOVE Henri! Not only is he French, but he is very grumpy. I like that about him.
Sparkle, how do you find these? Your videos never fail to make me laugh. Henri’s findings on whipped cream made me laugh out loud!! xoxo Kitcaboodles
We enjoyed that. Mum says it’s a hard life being a cat, but we have the feeling that she was being sarcastic.
J’aime les films noirs!
Adieu douce Sparkle
Nellie
The Human’s cousin who is indifferent to les chats but who went to film school sended her these this week. I don’t understand why Henri is so triste–isn’t being a Chat the ultimate rung on the great ladder of being (or the strongest link in the chain or whatever stoopid Human metaphor that is)???
Sparkle, I loved that film! Thanks for finding all the wonderful films.
Hysterical. Simply hysterical!
Oh the ennui!
Julie recognized the “Sani Clip” she is subjected to! The cold hearted mom just laughed, and at Henri too! Especially about being surrounded by morons!
Pawsome! We hadn’t seen the first one before either!
Pip, Smidgen, Minnie, Hollie
I love Henri and admire his talent for the dramatic.
xo Katie
Ahh French cinema & existentialism! Where would we be without either? We went back to watch the first one, as well. He’s terrific! Thanks for sharing, Sparkle!

Thanks for posting, Sparkle, the video is great, we loved it!
Your kind thoughts recently, following our news about BonBon crossing over Rainbow Bridge are much appreciated.
We got to know him late in his life when he came to live with us three years ago at the age of 13. He seemed happy here and quickly became a cherished and loved family member.
Thank you from all of us,
Mindy, Moe, Cookie, Mike and mombean Nina
Mommy sez angst sounds especially tragic in French! We gonna hafta try it at home to see if it gets us more noms!
