Everyone who voted for me — and voted for the rescues in my right hand sidebar — are pawsome! As you can see, the two that got the most votes are Animal Advocates and Forever Home Feline Ranch. If I win the Pettie for Best Blog Post, I will be able to split the $1000 donation money between these two groups. We will find out the winners in all the categories on August 26 at 5 PM Eastern Time. It will be a virtual ceremony on YouTube, which I kind of like better than an in-person ceremony, since that means I don’t have to send my human off to accept the award in my place!
But just as important is the rescue that came in third place! A Call 4 Paws was suggested by Cathy Keisha, and she helped them out by giving them (and me) a plug in a contest she was running. That was very smart and creative of her! A Call 4 Paws is located in Jersey City, and they take in the animal victims of the area — those living on the streets, or who were abused or abandoned — and give them new hope for a better life. They spay and neuter them all and put the friendlier ones up for adoption right away. Those animals who are more feral or who are sick go to the group’s four-acre sanctuary in Jonestown, PA where they are socialized and brought back to health. When they are ready, they are put up for adoption. You can see their adoptable pets on Petfinder — if you live in the area, or know someone who does, take a look. There are a lot of great animals searching for homes!
Because A Call 4 Paws landed in third place, they get a ChipIn widget in my sidebar for the month of August. You can donate to them right now! Like everywhere else in the U.S., Jersey City has way too many homeless pets, and A Call 4 Paws is working really hard to help as many as they can. If everyone who reads my blog this month donates the price of a mocha latte or frozen dinner (that seems to be my human’s diet these days), they would actually have more than the $1000 prize money that the Petties is giving to their winners! Pretty amazing, isn’t it? The money you give via the ChipIn Widget goes directly to the rescue through their PayPal account, so please drop a little something in there while you are here!
