While my human was at BlogPaws last weekend, they handed the pet bloggers in attendance a challenge: What will you do to help less adoptable pets? They also designated the week of September 19–25 as “Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week.” Petfinder has created special widgets to publicize it. Please consider adding one to your site in the next few days!
For my part in Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week, I will be interrupting my normal blogging to feature an interview with a less adoptable cat each day. So from Sunday, September 19 through Saturday, September 25, you will be meeting some very, very special kitties! And all of them need homes!
I don’t normally ask my readers to spread the word about my blog posts, but in this particular case, I do invite you to let everyone you know about these less-adoptable cats, and the shelters that are working to find them homes. My big dream would be to see at least a couple of these kitties begin the adoption process for new homes before week’s end!
Now… what are you planning to do for less-adoptable pets?

Great idea… I’ll spread the word about your blog and will go get a widget right now. Thanks for letting us know about Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet Week…
Congratulations, Sparkle. Mama has decided to do that on our blog, too. *purrrr*
Oh wow. We’re going to go get a widget now! And you know…..Momma has been thinking of adopting another kitty…………..
Sparkle, that is such a good idea. We will be glad to point people towards your blog for the posts. We will do some posts too on our blog about the less- adoptable pets. We just think this is a super thing to do. We will start working on it right now.
Have a great day.
How moving Sparkle! Great post! We’ll tell evervy kitty we know!(Even that mean powder-brown that comes in our teritory! What a shrew she is!)
Great idea, Sparkle! I will also feature less-adoptable kitties on my blog
You ARE the change!
I just added the widget to my blog, too! I hope many, many “less adoptable” kittehs find Forever homes.
Thanks for letting us know, Sparkle! We are all “less adoptable” so we really appreciate this. Our mom tried to add the widget but it’s not working right now – we’ll get her to do it when she is more awake!
We’ve added a widget. Our human is sitting at her work desk bawling now, because she hates the thought that so many non-human Beings are unwanted, alone and suffering.
As for us, we’re glad she adopted us!
We will share about your blog, Sparkle, and grab a widget for ours. It’s great you are doing this. We all read on another blog about the keynote address given by Mike Arms and we were all very moved. We are thinking about more that we can do to help.
-Pip, Smidgen, Minnie
That is so cool Sparkle, one of the widgets will be on each of my sites really soon!
Hopefully Mom will be able to add a widget to our blog.
She has to read some things ‘several’ times before it sinks in

We will gladly add the widget to our blog, Sparkle! We think this is a worthy cause! xoxo
That is really a great thing you are going to do, Sparkle. I look forward to reading your posts.
Great idea Sparkle – if we all help spread the word think how many pets can be adopted! we focus on less adoptable pets on every Friday’s post – so next week we will do it all next week. Will add a link too.
I am putting the widget on my blog and the publicist it putting it on hers too
Thanks for letting us know about this Sparkle! We’ll add the widget and spread the word too. We hope the ones you feature get adopted!
Hi Sparkle, I’ve posted the widget to my blog, thanks for letting everyone know about this.
My Casper is deaf and some people would think that makes him less-adoptable. I would like to say for the record that he is an amazing cat and really no different (but for an odd meow)than my other kitties who are not considered “special needs”
What a cool thing, Sparkle! We can’t wait to meet these “less adoptable” cats. We bet they’re not less adoptable at all!! We’ll go get the widget to post!
What a lovely thing to do; we look forward to seeing these wonderful babies and will keep our paws crossed for their adoptions…xoxo…Calle, Halle, Sukki
Way to go Sparkle! Thanks so much for helping those kitties in need. I love that you’ll be spotlighting so many. That rules! Did you know we have a gallery of shelter and rescue-nominated pets that need a little bit of extra help? Check it out! http://www.petfinder.com/less-adoptable-pet-week-2010/gallery
I put the badge on my bloggie. I’m all for having those pets adopted for sure.
Have a great weekend.
