I don’t usually take my selfies at night because it’s dark and the photos come out really grainy. But I watched a BlogPaws live video recently and they mentioned using something called a Selfie Light for your phone camera. My human searched through Amazon and found out that none of them were very expensive (mostly around $10 or so). So she decided to get me one. She settled on the Auxiwa Clip On Ring Light for Camera because it is rechargeable and it has three light settings. Some of the others required batteries. The moment it arrived, I decided to give it a try.
My human had already clipped on the light and turned it on when I reached for the iPhone.
I took a practice selfie, and I wasn’t sure I liked the results.
Meh. I wasn’t that impressed. I will say it’s better than a flash because I didn’t get the Laser Eyes of Doom. But there’s nothing really cool or arty about the lighting.
This one is without the selfie light. I actually like it better, even though it is very grainy.
But never fear! My human did find another use for the selfie light: as a fill for either back lighting or when the sunlight is too contrasty. I’ll show you. Below is a photo of me in the afternoon, with the sun shining through the window behind me.
Now here is what happened when my human used the selfie light.
So it actually is useful, just maybe not as a selfie light in the dark.
