Thank you all for nominating me into the Petties finals for Best Blog Post! I am very proud of my blog post about National Feral Cat Day, and it is about a cause that is very important to me: the plight of feral cats. I know some of the other posts that made the finals are more personal and more emotional, but I made an effort to be brief, informative, and to make you both laugh a little and think at the same time. I really tried to aim for a higher purpose with my post, but in the most readable, down-to-earth manner possible. I hope that it reached a lot of humans, and will continue to do so, and that they will make a difference in feral cats’ lives.
I am very excited that this year, the Petties winners get $1000 to donate to a worthy shelter, and if I win, I will make sure my share goes to a shelter that works a lot to help ferals. There are a number of them out there, and if you have suggestions, please let me know in the comments below. I will decide on one by the end of July, and for all of August, I will feature a ChipIn widget for the group I choose so that even if I don’t win, they will still benefit.
But I really hope I do win! That is where you all come in. You can vote every day, a couple of times (no more than that) a day. So please vote, and spread the word to others, so they can vote too! I’ve seen some of the other finalists in other categories, and I am actually going to borrow an idea from one of the dog bloggers, Champion of My Heart, and create suggested Tweets and Facebook posts for you. (What can I say, it is a really good idea! Besides, it happens to be my human’s favorite dog blog.)
For Twitter: “I voted for @sparklecat’s awesome feral cat story as Best Blog Post in the Petties: http://bit.ly/qY1TWl Please do the same!”
For Facebook: “Sparkle the Designer Cat wrote a great post about the plight of feral cats! Please vote for it for Best Blog Post in the Petties! http://bit.ly/qY1TWl You can vote daily, and if she wins, the prize money will help ferals!”
Of course, you don’t have to use those exact words, but any help you can give me will be very much appreciated! Let’s win this!
