Guess where I get to go today!
That’s right, my human and I are shopping at PetSmart®, and helping a great cause at the same time.

PetSmart has its 30 anniversary this year, and to celebrate, it has launched its Buy a Bag, Give a Meal™ program. That means that for every bag of pet food purchased between now and December 31, 2017, it will donate a bowl of food to a cat or dog in need.
Of course, that includes pets at shelters and animal welfare groups, but not just them. Do you realize that there are many, many people who struggle to feed both themselves and their pets? So food banks are also included in the organizations receiving meal donations. This will be PetSmart’s hugest philanthropic campaign in its 30-year history, and they expect to contribute more than 60 million meals. PetSmart Charities®, the company’s nonprofit partner, will be collaborating with national nonprofits to distribute the pet food directly to those pets who need it.
Look at all these bags of food… and each one purchased will equal a meal to a pet in need. What if your humans are like mine, and only feed you canned or raw food? Well then, next time your humans go to PetSmart, have them pick up a bag of food to donate to your local shelter or rescue! I call that a double win, because you are helping spread the love.
If you are at one of PetSmart’s 1500-plus stores in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, you will probably see this sign, reminding you about the Buy a Bag, Give a Meal™ program. It will also be the first thing you see when you go to PetSmart.com or PetSmart.ca.
Here is a video for the program:
Can you do me a favor and help spread the word about this? PetSmart Charities conducted a survey that included nearly 1,800 of its animal welfare partners in North America. And you know what — only about 20% of them received pet food donations, and a mere 8% receive subsidized pet food from brands. So this drive is very much necessary. It’s such an easy way for you to help pets in need. Do it today!
