Meet Miss Kitty!
My human found out about her from a friend who shares a studio with a lady from S.C.A.R. (Southern California Abyssinian Rescue). She instantly reminded my human of someone…
Do you see the resemblance to Sparkle? Although they are probably not related unless it’s very distantly, there is something similar about the two of them.
Miss Kitty was living up in the Pacific Northwest, but her human lost her home and was close to living out of her car. The woman had fallen on very hard times, and looked for somewhere safe for her girl. Through a series of events, Miss Kitty wound up down here in southern California in care of S.C.A.R. When her friend said awesome things about Miss Kitty, and because Miss Kitty reminded my human of Sparkle, she decided to come down and see her.
Like the title of this post implies, Miss Kitty really is magical! Everyone who meets her falls in love with her. She is a small girl, probably a bit smaller than I am, but probably a pound larger than Sparkle. She has a personality like Sparkle, too — she needs to get to know you before she will be friends with you. This takes, oh, about 5 or 6 minutes, if you aren’t too forward with her and you are holding a toy. She adores playtime. And my human even got to rub her tummy eventually!
You would think that because Miss Kitty is a purebred Somali, there would be a line around the block to adopt her! But she does come with a couple of caveats. For one thing, although she is a healthy, lively girl, she is also eleven years old. She needs some dental work, and S.C.A.R. is taking her in to have that done in a couple of weeks. Other than that, the vet thought she was in good shape, and everyone at the clinic thought she was cute. The other thing is she needs to be the only cat in the home. She really does not enjoy being around other cats at all, and a multicat household will not work for her.
Miss Kitty is beautiful and fun. If you have ever wanted to find out what life with a Somali cat is like, and you don’t have any other cats, she will be more than willing to show you! I hope that one of my readers will step up and adopt her. If you can’t, I hope you spread the word about her — I would love to see her happy in a new home soon!
