Last May I heard about this thing called “Blog Jog Day.” I knew a lot of my friends did different types of blog hops, but this particular one intrigued me because the human in charge of it runs writing and publishing blogs. That means the group of bloggers participating, even if they are not authors, are a bit more literary-minded than the average blogger. Being an author myself, I like that! And it seems like a way to get quality traffic to your blog, as opposed to the type of hit-and-miss visitors from some of the other low-budget blog advertising services (although I still use them because I have made some good friends through the ads).
This Blog Jog Day is on Sunday, November 21, and here is how it works:
- You sign up for it. The Blog Jog Day creator buys advertising for this event, so she charges $2 to sign up. In addition to defraying those costs, it also discourages spam blogs. I did not think this was too much money. My human spends at least that much to feed us cats just for one day!
- The Blog Jog Day human sends you a link to one of the other blogs that is participating, and you include it in your post for that day. That way, readers can “jog” from one blog to another if they want. (The blogger’s link that was sent to me happens to be a human author!)
- You post anything you want on Blog Jog Day. I will be having a giveaway! So even if you don’t care about blog jogging, you will still want to stop by!
If this sounds interesting or fun to you, do check into it! One plus is that it is happening during the height of holiday shopping season, so if you are an author like me (feline or otherwise), or if your humans sell crafty type things, this might be a nice, inexpensive way to get more shoppers!
