Finalist Friday!
Thanks to your votes of support, I am a finalist in the Petties Category Best Blog Post for my fun and informative “Clawing Down Cat Myths!” I am honored. I can’t say I am humbled (being a cat and all), but I am honored!
I do want to mention that I am in especially good company this year — the other finalists in my category are all friends of mine. I have read their articles and they are all awesome! I think we are all winners already.
But only one of us will get a Petties statuette, and only one of us will get to donate $1000 to a rescue or shelter of our choice! As in years past, instead of choosing a rescue myself, I am going to ask you for your suggestions. Just tell me in the comments below which shelter you would like me to donate the money to, should I win. It has to be a 501(c)3 U.S. shelter because that’s the rule the Petties humans have set down.
I will take your suggestions until 11:59 PM Sunday, July 8 (Pacific Time), after which I will run a poll on my sidebar and you will get to vote. The shelter with the most votes at the end of the day July 31 will be the one I donate the Petties money to, if I win. But it gets better — since there is no guarantee that I’ll actually win, I will run a chipin for the rescue on my sidebar for the whole month of August! That way the rescue gets some attention and donations, no matter what!
So let’s get started! Comment below with the name of your favorite shelter or rescue (it can be a repeat of someone else’s — lots of us have the same favorites), and when you are done, click on the Petties badge below or in the sidebar and vote for me and your other favorite bloggers!

Congratulations! I am not surprised you are a finalist. You are definitely a fabulous cat blogger.
You SO deserve the nomination (and winning!).
I know this is a stretch for us cats, but St. Louis Senior Dog Project is an incredible volunteer organization. It is all foster, and they rehome dogs from seniors and feature senior dogs as well as dogs of all ages. I already voted for you. My shelter, just like last year, is A Call 4 Paws. They’re making vast improvement to the Cat Sanctuary they have and would be able to start to provide AC for the senior cats with the donation. Thanks for all you do for shelter cats.

One reason I really like Robin’s rescue is because it’s a one woman show and she does such great things with what little resources she has. The big rescues get lots of attention but those small rescues out there just barely making it those are the ones that need to be propped up with a little (or BIG) boost.

I wanted to highlight one further rescue that is rather large but the work they do is for those kitties you are FIV/Felv and more…it’s rustichollowshelter.org.
Please check them out if you’ve never seen them. I was so happy to come across a shelter that does work with very ill kitties.

Not only do they rescue and rehome felines, they are a cat sanctuary for the older “unadoptable” ones AND they have a pet food bank to help not only our feline friends, but the canine companions as well.
