The Usual
May, 2006

Now that the workers are done (mostly) with all the stuff around the house, things have gotten back to normal.

Well, almost normal - my human still hasn't unpacked all the boxes yet. We cats find this quite frustrating, since we love helping with the boxes.

Since we couldn't help with the boxes, one of us decided to unpack the kitchen trashcan and decorate the newly finished hardwood floor in the bedroom with a lettuce leaf. My human didn't appreciate our efforts, so I'm not telling which one of us did it.

Since that went over so badly, Binga decided that rearranging the linen closet would be helpful. My human really hates that.

Other than these stabs at interior design, it's the usual routine. Binga and I are back to fighting at every mealtime. It's not my fault, I swear - all I do is headbutt her and she flies off the handle.

She calms down as soon as she gets fed. Then we can be friends again.

Because my human's office was in such disarray for a few weeks, we lost track of the cat bed she keeps in there. Once she started moving everything back to its proper place, the bed magically reappeared. We all use it, and we never even fight over it.

The one really annoying thing that happened this month was that my human found a bare spot on my chest, up near my left shoulder.

She checked it out and thought it might be ringworm, so next thing I knew I was stuffed into that horrible cat carrier and whisked off to the vet.

I hate the clinic. Okay, there are a few interesting things there, but the experience is always mostly unpleasant.

This time the vet took a "sample" of my bare spot. That was horrible. And even worse, my human said, "Well, since she's already here, we might as well microchip her." Like I wasn't traumatized enough!

Well, the tests came back and it was nothing. The vet thinks it might have been stress from all the work being done on the house. Duh! I could have told them that without the trip to the vet.

The only good thing to come out of this was that my human took me off eBay duty for a couple of weeks until she was sure I didn't have ringworm. But now she's back forcing me to pose with cheap costume jewelry.

Even more embarrassing, she made me pose with a book about a dog. How dare she!

All I really want to do is nap. Unfortunately, my human thinks sunny afternoons create well-exposed photo opportunities.
