Cat Books - From a Cat's Point of View
Warriors: Power of Three #2 - Dark River
By Erin Hunter
My human obligingly snatched me a copy of this the very day it became available and read it to me
immediately. Frankly, I would rather have had her tossing me a twist tie instead of yammering on for
hours on end, but I do have to admit that listening to the latest in the
Erin Hunter Warriors series
was time well spent. While there is a climax at the end that's pretty exciting, much of the book
gives you a chance to get to know the three main characters of this series better. Hollypaw, Jaypaw
and especially Lionpaw become more well-rounded characters. Hollypaw and Lionpaw deal with issues
that have them questioning the Warrior Code, while the truculent, blind Jaypaw still seems to think
he is above everything, including StarClan. There are more hints dropped about certain rumors that
have been flying around Warriors forums - in particular, the parentage of Hollypaw, Lionpaw and
Jaypaw and Cinderpaw's past life - but you'll have to read the book to see if there are any answers
yet. One thing I will divulge: he may have been dead since the end of the series one and his
RiverClan son may have been dead since the end of series two, but we have not see the last of either
Tigerstar or Hawkfrost. And you get an especially intriguing preview of book #3,
Outcast.
If you're already a Warriors fan, you've probably snatched up this book by now. If you don't know
about this best-selling series yet, start at the beginning with the
first series
(Dark River is the second book in series 3). You'll probably like these stories of forest-born
warrior cats if you enjoy the much tamer adventures in my diary.
