Cat Books - From a Cat's Point of View
Cat's Christmas
By Bruce Fogle and Malcolm Hillier
You might recall that a couple months back, I reviewed Bruce Fogle's
What's Up With My Cat?.
Well, he's written a number of books, most of them focusing on cat health and wellbeing (Fogle is a
veterinarian, so you'd expect that). Then my human happened on this book, which he wrote with Malcolm
Hillier, who writes about food and gardens. I can only figure that these guys must have busted into
their cats' nip while they were writing this because it is the strangest cat holiday book I have ever
seen! Basically it is book about celebrating the holiday... as if a cat wrote it. And for a pair of
humans, these guys almost get it right. You'll find a wreath made of fresh fish, a litter box
decorated with miniature fir trees, party dips with names like "Catnip Dip" and "Liver Mousse," and
my favorite section, "Diary of Destruction" (my favorite entry: "Carried off a death-defying acrobatic
feat and successfully sent the tree flying across the room"). Included in this slim but entertaining
volume are colorful pictures of us cats doing what we do best - looking good and creating havoc. Each
page is a new surprise, and even though my human found it amusing, I can assure her that most of the
suggestions found in this book are perfectly reasonable and worthy of consideration if you want to
make your cat's holiday especially nice.
